About "Lead To"  (lead to에 대해서) 

 

The phrasal verb, “lead to,” basically means “to result in,”

“to begin a process that causes something to happen,” or “to be the cause of.”

“lead to”는 기본적으로 “~을 초래하다,” “~을 일어나게/발생하게 하는 과정을 시작하다”

또는 “~의 원인이 되다” 입니다.

영한 사전을 찾아보시면 “~을 초래하다, ~을 일으키다, ~으로 이어지다, ~으로 이끌다, ~을 낳다”

등의 의미로 나와 있습니다.

Before we further deal with “lead to,” please note how the verb “lead” changes forms:

lead (original form, present simple)—led (past simple)—led (past participle).  

“lead to”를 더 다루기 전에, 동사 “lead”의 형태 변화를 주의해서 봅시다:

This phrasal verb, “lead to,” is usually used with the following four forms in active voice:

1. A lead to B, 2. A lead to V-ing, 3. A lead B to C, and 4. A lead B to V.

I will discuss all three of them one by one.

구동사 “lead to”는 능동태에서 흔히 다음의 3가지 형태로 사용됩니다:

1. A lead to B, 2. A lead B to C, and 3. A lead B to V.

→ This is the most common form. (이것이 가장 흔한 형태입니다)

“Ultimately, it leads to a great deal of mutual interest between the police and the TV studios.”

are actually not so bad, and are acceptable (even necessary) norms.”

2. A lead B to C: A가 B를 C로 이어지게 하다, A가 B를 C로 이끌다,

 With a bad environment and poor parenting, orchid children can end up depressed,

drug-addicted, or in jail—but with the right environment and good parenting,

they can grow up to be society’s most creative, successful, and happy people.

This leads us to hopeful monsters. What are they?

Professors Wendy Johnson and Thomas J. Bouchard, Jr. said,

“A hopeful monsters is an individual that deviates radically from the norm in a population

because of a genetic mutation that confers a potentially adaptive advantage.”  

열악한 환경과 형편 없는 양육과 함께라면, 난초 같은 어린이들

(예민해서 좋은 환경과 세심한 양육을 받아야만 재능을 꽃피울 수 있는 어린이들)은 결국 우울증을 앓거나,

마약에 중독되거나, 아니면 감옥에 가는 처지가 된다—그러나, 적절한 환경과 좋은 양육과 함께라면,

난초 같은 어린이들은 사회에서 가장 창조적이고, 성공적이며 행복한 성인들로 성장할 수 있다.

3. A lead B to V: A가 B가 ~하는 것을 초래하다/야기하다, A가 B를 V하는 것으로 이어지게 하다.

A가 B를 ~하도록 이끌다,

This poor record of achievement has led scholars to speculate that

the internal structure of the brains of these Sapiens was probably different from ours.

이러한 저조한 성과기록은 학자들이 이런 사피엔스들의 두뇌 내부구조가
