in exchange for~ 에서 전치사 for 뒤에 명사를 넣어주는 정도는

어려움 없이 하실 수 있으실 겁니다.

전치사 for 뒤에 동명사인 using을 넣어주면서

이때의 tell은 명사(noun)로써, 포커 플레이어의 몸짓이나 표정처럼

사실을 드러내는 몸짓이나 표정 등을 의미하고,

in a pickle?

Karina Yan Glasser가 쓴 “141번가 Vanderbeeker가족들” 이라는 책에서

“Oliver was in a pickle”이라는 문장을 처음 봤을 때,

나는 주저하지 않고  Kindle에서 기본적으로 제공되는 영어사전을 활성화 하려고

pickle이라는 단어를 터치했다.  내가 제일 먼저 알고 싶었던 건,

그 pickle이 우리가 먹는 그 피클이 맞는 것 인가였다.

Well, when I first found the word in a sentence, “Oliver was in a pickle.”,
on page 150 in a book titled, “The Vanderbeekers of 141^st Street,” written by Karina Yan Glasser,  
I didn’t hesitate to touch the word “pickle” to activate Kindle’s default dictionary.

The first thing I really wanted to know is the word pickle really meant the pickle which we eat.

음, 그 피클이 맞았다. 그렇다면, “be in a pickle”은 우리가 먹는 바로 그 피클 안에 있다는 의미?

그건 아니다, 비록 비격식이긴 하지만, 피클에는 특별한 의미가 있다.

피클이 단수로 쓰였을 때, 어렵거나, 엉망인 상황을 의미할 때가 간혹 있다.
