I actually came across this idiom when I read the book

titled “Mathematics with Bad Drawings by Ben Orlin.”

The author is a mathematics teacher who tries to change his students’ idea of mathematics

as something very hard and boring, and a subject that never allows mistakes.

Thus, he started drawing something with quite poor skills in his math class.

Below is a conversation when he and his students talked about his drawings in class.
